they look a little out of focus,
and your flash is too strong, try to diffuse it a little, maybe hold a piece of paper in front of it just a quick fix
and im curious? are these selective coloring or were the hats those colors?

The Hats are that color they are some of those cheap plastic party hats for kids birthday parties.




I learned the tissue paper over the flash after I took these photos but you said paper... you mean just a regular piece of paper or the tissue?

I always heard to use dryer sheets to difuse the flash.

I like the vibrant colors but I agree about the strong flash...

different paper will give you different results. tissue paper will give you one diffusion while regular printer\copy paper will give you a different result. i like the colors
