Took these shots from the roof of a parking garage for the movie theater.

This was my favorite of the night. Part of O'Hare airport at night with a plane taking off and another flying by.

really good works!

I love pics made at night...they create special spirit of mystery

Good good job!!!!
I like the last one most of all)) and the first is kinda sad I think))))

I gotta try some more shots like this again. They're quite different than my usual daily fare and I like the look of them.

I am not an expert, so take this for what it is worth...just my opinion.

1 & 2 - there is too much "canvas" for so little going on. At night, or for any shot, if you use the whole "canvas", the whole shot has to be interesting. The concept is okay, so you say you are going to work on it, I am sure you will improve. Remember; lighting, composition, and subject.

Your shot of the airport...that is using the canvas. I really like the concept and use of your shot.

How long was your shutter set at? What aperture?

I cropped your airport shot. I hope you do not mind

Actually shot 1 has the building (as seen in shot 2) cropped out to narrow the negative space. I felt the lights of the cars would be enough but I understand what you're saying. I also don't mind the crop.

(EXIF as follows)

Shot 1
Focal Length: 135.0mm

Exposure Time: 8.000 s
Aperture: f/11.0
ISO Equiv.: 500
Whitebalance: Manual
Metering Mode: spot
Exposure: aperture priority (semi-auto)

Shot 2
Focal Length: 135.0mm

Exposure Time: 30.000 s
Aperture: f/11.0
ISO Equiv.: 100
Whitebalance: Manual
Metering Mode: spot
Exposure: aperture priority (semi-auto)

Shot 4
Focal Length: 135.0mm (35mm equivalent: -21...
Exposure Time: 30.000 s
Aperture: f/11.0
ISO Equiv.: 100
Whitebalance: Manual
Metering Mode: spot
Exposure: aperture priority (semi-auto)

This is the same shot as 4 but taken a few minutes earlier. Pretty much straight from the camera so you have an idea of how I saw it.
