Nice pics! This is all new to me, so they all look pretty awesome! The fireworks one is my favorite. On the guitar pic, how did you get the background and some of the foreground to be blurry?

All very nice shots. Loving the water with the sunburst through the trees, that is beautiful.

corndog - the effect that you are referring to is shallow depth of field, an effect that is typically created by using a large aperture (low f-number).

Ahh, the Mirage 2000. Such a beautiful aircraft. Nice pictures and I really like the water shot but it would be better composed in the 'thirds' rather than half water half sky. Nice shot though.

Thanks, as has been stated previously it is the use of a low depth of field.

Thanks for the constructive criticism, I'm not meaning to discard it here but unfortunately feel that if I had put more sky in the frame I would cut off the bottom of the waterfall. Whereas if I had more of the water I would have cut off more of the sky. I totally take your point though and will bear it in mind for my next outing.
