That's the first generation 70-300 G lens you got there. I had it's predecessor ? the 75-300 AF lens which was a push pull.

I almost bought the new 24-70 f/2.8 VR because I was offered a stinking good deal...but then they also offered the 105mm f/1.4E for a decent deal too...

I use to have one of those, same optic as the current 70-300 but without the internal motor or VR. Not a bad lens at all.

Yeah, thats how I got my AI 80-200mm f4.5 "N" thats now collecting dust at home. I havent ever used it, except for test shots.
