I also heard that the Nikon D200 and D300, Pentax K10D, Samsung GX-10 have Sony sensors. I could be wrong but I thought that was the case.

You're right. As far as I know the D200 and K10D use the same Sony sensor (and the Samsung definitely uses the same as the K10D because the Samsung is simply a copy of the Pentax with a few cosmetic differences). The D300 has a newer sensor but it's a Sony too.

Btw I played with the A700 in store and it felt great, instantly comfortable in the hands of this former Minolta Dynax (film) user... made me wish I could afford two systems
