First attempt to photograph the Space Shuttle from up close today. Photo's taken standing to the side of the VAB bldg on site. What a rush to be so close. Had a little to learn with the exposure due to the intense flames. Got 4 or 5 more launches to get it down packed! ;)

He was too busy fighting the turbulance to be thinking of much else :lmao:

Outstanding images. I've always dreamt of seeing a launch from up-close.
 
the bird was probably getting semi cooked from the flames even from that distance
 
Fantastic!!! I always wanted to drive up there from South Florida to shoot it.

I heard it was tough to get close though?

How far were you away and what mm lens did you use? And how much are these cropped?
