It was more than just a sc-fi super hero movie.... I think this one a whole lot better than all other super hero movies.

I think this is one of the fundemental reasons why Spiderman is so popular. He's not really a "super hero". He's a goober given special abilities that tries to do the right thing, but like alot of real people he's not always successful. This "real" quality Peter Parker possesses clicks with alot of people. Superman is nearly invincible and goody goody. Batman is too dark and moody. They are both extremes of human personality and harder to relate too. I think the relatability of Spiderman is the key and I think this is why X-men is so popular since the characters are basically regular people put into a weird situation.

I completely agree. The movies aren't really about "Spiderman", they're about Peter. And what's not to like about Peter? I would think almost anyone could relate to him in some if not many ways.
