Just a few from today... I was trying to step a bit outside my "norm" and find new ways of looking at all of these beautiful spring flowers! Comments/critiques always appreciated!

These shots get better and better the further down the page I go (and I assume they are time ordered?)
The first is technically really good, but the background just ruins the effect - a more natural background which blurrs well would have been a great improvment - the flowers themselves though are really well captured.
2 and 3 for me don't really hold anything much to get my attention, 3 I think would have worked better if the flowers were a little bigger so that the rock is not so totally dominating.
Now 4 and 5 we get a massive improvment - 4 is a very very good shot and the background works really well - and I think you got the depth of field working very well. 5 again is a really great shot.

Overall I think with the latter shots you were starting to consider the background as well as the forground and the imrovements show. I think through all you got the depth of field just about perfect (depth of field being the thing that I find with my experiments in flowers is the tricky thing - to much or too little and the whole effect can be lost).
Out of interest what apatures were you using for these shots?

Funny! Yes, they are time ordered! And, as I said, I was trying to get some new views and try new shots that were unlike my "normal" flower shots... that was my goal when I set out, but by the end of my shoot, I do think I was slipping more into my "comfort" zone (esp. by the time I took that last one), which apparently (at least at this point, according to your assessment) yields better results! Maybe because they're more "my style" so I'm able to execute them better?

Apertures...
