Im wondering if there is a way to figure out if a photo is taken from somewhere else or if it is genuinely the photographers. Can anyone help please?

You can view the EXIF data, if it is still embedded, for some information.

You can also use TinEye to search the web: About - TinEye

You could contact the person claiming the image, asking for the copyright information. Then contact the Copyright office to verify ownership.

Google image search is excellent also. It seems to catch a LOT more than Tineye does Google Images
Just drag and drop the image into the search bar. You can drag it from another open web page to there too.

Is this because you want to find out if someone stole your friend's photo, or because you want to get away with nicking someone elses?
