I'll be brave, what do you think?

Nicely captured portrait. Good DOF, composition and lighting/exposure. My only suggestion to possibly make it better would be to add some additional contrast - but not at the expense of heightening the shadows in the eyes...

Thanks for that, I might try playing with it and see if I can lighten the eyes up a little, then see what I can do about the overall contrast.

For some reason it reminds me of a say no to drugs commercial. I really like the mood you've portrayed here, I agree with Tuna a tad more contrast would be good, but other than that I'd say you've got an great pic here :)

Dramatic shot!!! I agree with the previous comments about the contrast. To me it seems close, so be careful with your adjustments.

OK, had a bit of a play with it, dodged the eyes a bit and increased the contrast - is it better or worse than the other??

Thanks for the comments so far.

I prefer the original mainly because it's softer. They guys head in this second one is too harsh and sharp or maybe it's shiny. I'm not sure... but there's something about his head.

Nice pic though. I agree with the comment about the "say no to drugs", It looks like he's about to tell me how many people die every second!
