Back in January, at the beginning of one of my photo classes, we were assigned to photograph a subject in the studio using a lighting style similar to William Coupon's (However, we used softboxes rather than flash)

Well, that's a pretty good match on Coupon's famous 1970's style muslin backdrop, and the light swept in from camera left.

I rather like that, 'though just for reference's sake, a flash is a light source, a soft-box is a lighting modifier.

Oh, silly me. I meant to say that we used continuous fluorescent lighting with a softbox, rather than a flash. Thanks for the comment, though!
