Essential Studio Lighting

An introduction to lighting techniques in the studio, aimed at people who are new to, or want a refresher in, studio lighting. The course covers how to use strobe lights, how cameras work with studio flash, aperture, shutter speeds and ISO settings in the studio; working safely in a studio; the difference between hard and soft lighting and when each is used; basic lighting set-ups for fashion, portrait and fine-art lighting; There is time at the end to practice what you’ve learnt with a shoot with a model.

It's a brilliant introduction to studio lighting. You don't need to know anything about working in a studio, we'll take you through all the basics and by the end of the morning you'll have a good basic understanding of how photography studios work, and be ready to start creating masterpieces of your own! The course is taught in very small groups, so lots of chance to talk to the tutor and get really tailored help.

The course takes place at Urban Photography on Saturday 4th August from 10am to 1pm (lunch included from 1-2pm) We are based next to Spitalfields in east London, 10min walk from Liverpool Street. Please visit our website
