Can others edit my Photos
Photos NOT OK to edit
Ok, this should be simple enough, but for the life of me I can't figure it out.

My D300 will not allow me to shoot over 1/60 if my (external) flash is on. I found in the camera the max shutter speed, which is set at 1/250 and then below that is a max flash speed, which is indeed set to 1/60. The problem is, that is the fastest it can be set to. How do I remove this or am I looking in the right spot? It is completely ticking me off!

Thanks for the help!

^^

If you're looking at e2, that's the slowest shutter speed for flash.

Are you in Manual?

Otherwise, in any other mode, the camera sets the shutter to 1/60 when the flash is attached in low light situations. That's the slowest it will go, it can go up but not slower than 1/60.

The Definitive Answer:

Just wanted to bold that to seperate from the other stuff in the thread. It has already been answered. Your flash on camera can ONLY go up to 1/60, however your flashes high-sync mode can go up to however high the flash is capable of. For the built-in flash, it is 320th of a second. For a speedlight - it is 1/8000 of a second.
