Suggestions for macro lens purchase

I need to purchase a macro lens to shoot jury slides of jewelry. I have a Minolta x370 SLR, and have been using a 200mm vivitar telephoto lens, but haven't been able to get a large enough image to fill the frame of the slide. Does anyone know of a good lens that is compatible with this camera? Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

You could probably get by quite nicely with a closeup lens. Or an extension tube. But with the tube, you lose light.
