Heard nothing but good things about it, shame it's out of stock everywhere in the UK!!

except it's not an even dollar trade
used Tamron about $850ish .. new Nikon $1500ish

You're right it's not an even trade, but I wouldn't mind adding some extra cash to a (hopefully) better lens.

Saying that though, I'll hire one for the weekend first to check it out properly.
