Surface pro 4 m3 vs i5

What's the performance difference of the Microsoft surface pro 4 m3 4gb and i5 4gb? I know the i5 8gb would be the best but it's out of my budget. I plan to be editing photos in photoshop and lightroom. Nothing really extencive, mostly light editing and my maybe some panorama stitching. Will the m3 version be enough? Or should i pay a little more and sacrifice the silent cooling and longer battery life?
