here I would appreciate some input from someone who has experience shooting this sport, or perhaps as a competitor?

My main concern is that that the images don't seem sharp enough; I did not want to use a smaller aperture in order to dissipate the backgrounds, which are none too clean. Shooting from a much higher angle was not possible (thus getting the mat as a background) plus the faces are lost. Then there's the budget......

Always observe the lighting at an event and adjust your "White Balance" to match.

Otherwise you end up the the incredible hulk.

you see that looks too magenta to me....I appreciate the green tinge has gone. Strange thing is, other pix from the same mat are unaffected....maybe localised colour shift?

This was a two day event so I used the first day to run colour and exposure clips. Judged 6300k to be the best compromise, at that juncture.
