Tamron lens

What are your thoughts about this lens? I got it as an early Valentines day present :heart:

I know the manual focus SP 28-80 and it's fine and sharp with very nice macro. From what I have seen of Tamron's AF lenses-I like them,and I'd figure they continue to do the SP line as their best...so...lokely this is nice and to get better takes some pretty major $.

It's typically Tamron: fantastic optics and mediocre AF. I use one alongside a Canon L 24-70 f/2.8, and the only differences I notice are that the L flares more easily, and the Tamron is lighter and smaller (a bonus in my book). People often claim the Canon L AF is better, but it seems similarly mediocre to me. Much quieter, but no more accurate or effective in low light than the Tamron.

I had that lens up until last December. It was great and took really nice images. It was compact compared to other leneses in this focal range and speed. Yes, the AF was not fast but was accurate. A reliable lens, i think you will like it.
