What was your background, and your lighting?
I have the same question too.

I also love your use of negative space...definatly something you use very well in most/all the photos I have seen from you. You also capture your subjects very naturally. Great work.

If you are not taking portraits professionally yet...get on it soon because it will make you rich & famous.

It's nice to see another Terri who actually spells her name right. :sillysmi:

These are all very good - I'd be interested in knowing the equipment you used, as well. #s 3, 8 & 9 do it for me.

Thank you everyone!! I'm really overwhelmed by your positive responses!

As for the few questions some of you had...

The lighting and background were borrowed from a friend of mine, a photographer-turned-painter, who doesn't use his lighting/background that often.

Pretty basic, just a collapsable neutral background. To be honest, I didn't really like it, that's why I decided to go for a really dark background instead. The lights were pretty basic - just two lamps, one with a diffuser umbrella, and the other with a bounce umbrella.

It was really an exercise for me in attempting to work out how to use lighting effectively......I hope I did ok :)
