Is that an osprey or a kite?
Osprey , few month old.
thought so, what region was this taken in?
Are they still in the nest at that age? If so...
Did Papa-Osprey regurgitate some rodent for you, too?
Southern Maryland. Chesapeake Bay. The largest breading area in the world for Osprey.
Ya got me ( gotta remember to strip that data next time)
I build the nest sight for them. Protect it from the general public. A few photographers and the vet are the only people that get in close.
The vet counting mites or something
An infamous photographer
How cool that must be to get so close. Doesn't that stress out the parents? I just never seen anything like that before except raptor shows.
It takes a several years to get in that close. First you build there nesting platform in an idea location, wait and hope they build on it.
Now start to get them used to your being around. Hang out close to the nest (not to close though) . Build trust.
They have 7 distinct calls for you to learn. One is a warning call to go away (do so when you hear this call)
Once you are accepted you have it made.
these are AMAZING, thanks for sharing
