I really like the lamp, and I like how you've made the light it gives off the central subject. But at the same time, putting it dead center overplays the "centrality". I'd consider placing the lamp somewhat more to the left, with the "apple closer to the middle. Then the darkness becomes part of the contrast to the light, and gives us more of a "yin-yang" feeling.

I like how the light is in the center and its dark around the edges, that is why I chose to center it.
