Taken on the central California coast along the bottom of a jetty extending into the sea. This is the first bit of direct sunlight of the day. A small portion of the population.

I think they may be brown pelicans. I've heard a group of them are refered to as a 'raft.' Sounds way-more cool to me than a 'group', 'bunch', or 'flock.'

Which part of the California coast? I know an area that has a high brown pelican nesting population.
