Theatre photography

i've done this a few times, and my advice is pretty simple. Use the fastest lens you can get your hands on. nothing slower than f2.8 ideally. a monopod will help you immensly. you'll probably need at least iso 800 if not 1600. Many times the director won't want you to be very intrusive. Obviously you want to get full makeup and lighting, so you'll probably want to do the photos at the last dress rehearsal possible, zooms work well as you don't have to be extremely close.

this gallery has some samples of pictures that i've done from plays, most of them from arsenic and old lace i think. i need to post some that i did from romeo and juliet though.
