I like the composition of the first photograph, but your highlights are blown out quite badly. If you shot in RAW you should be able to save the highlights. The shy is nice also, and I bet you opted to save the sky and that's how you lost the headstones. Lastly, the horizon if off.

The second image just doesn't do much for me.

Try to save the highlights on the first one and see what you come up with.

Makes sense to me, remember that old rhyme ~ An apple(2) a day, keeps the headstone(1) away.

Second one looks a tad out of focus, and the different lighting on the floor is somewhat distracting.

The apple shot is interesting. Seems like you are going from bright to dark, having reflections on the apple, and the apple which is also going light to dark. An interesting study.
