I like the theme and composition (as well as the title) alot. I think they're a touch overexposed, though.

We have plenty of cactus needles here in Arizona if you run out of steel ones ...
 
Four suggestion I can offer.

1- Your on-board flash is killing the scene. Try finding alternative lighting sources.

2 - Please dust off the vinyl.

3 - Consider a slower shutter speed to capture some sense of motion on the turntable.

4 - Consider backing off a bit, giving more context to the scene.

Nice try. I think you can do better with more practice.

Thanks all(especially kundalini) for the advice.

My camera is not very good for photography, it is just a pimped out easyshare with 12x zoom and 7MP, but plans are in the works for a decent DSLR. :)

I implemented all the advice, even dusting. :D So, here are the resulting images. I need to bring in my lights, because the camera shot too slow for the subject(see the shaky arm head).
