I think it's finally time I get myself a nice DSLR to replace my little crapper I have in my pocket. I was thinking about the Nikon D40, but I've also heard good stuff about the D80. What's the difference? I really don't wanna exceed $400 in the purchase. I also don't wanna outgrow this camera anytime soon, so I'd like one that i'll be happy with for a while.

    Thanks,
    -Alex

Erm... I'm sure you're keen on buying a dSLR, but you do realise you've now posted this exact same message three times? ;)

Yeah, I posted it in three forums so I can get as many opinions as possible.

    ease up!

Just remember in future most of us read most of the sub forums. There are a few people who's interests lie only in one or two of them, and there are some that will read all of them.

Just pick which category best fits. Chances are most people who'll reply will read it.

I guess I must've missed the set of holy TPF laws regarding when, where, & how often I can post. Article 1972 I suppose?

I'd also like to point out how none of you so called "photographers" failed to even attempt an answer to my question.

So do you guys spend all your time here just to criticize on how many times one can post?

& thanks for the support, Garbz.

No we don't but a triple post is annoying on ANY forum you join period. I am 17 and have been a forum whore since I was 13. Kinda burned into my DNA to not double post (let alone triple). Not trying to be mean, his comment was a tad bit sarcastic, mine is trying to be helpful, so don't try to fight back, honest mistake, we can all move on.

As for the question, you can't get a lot in the SLR market film OR digital after you equate lenses with $400. Another forum related nit pick, is to search before making a new topic. Search for the terms "first SLR" "which SLR" "what camera" "which system" "entry level SLR"
