I know they sucked, the picture I had in mind was alot better then what came out.

How can I make them come out better next time?

this is timelapse - its when you keep your camera in 1 place (generally) and take pictures of the same thing.. say every 5 mins (or any time frame) and the image changes each time.. for example, a cloud.. keep the camera in the same place, take pictures every 5 mins and then put the pics together in a video slideshow. and it looks like the cloud is moving..

long exposure is what you did.. its when you keep your shutter opened for a long time (say 30 seconds) and it produces images like what you got, where you can see light trails..

they are pretty grainy.. it looks like your ISO may have been turned up to high... thats my guess anyway

Yea, I didn't know what to set it as. Since it was pitch black but I also was wanting to get light.

What would a good ISO be?

ISO: 100 - Aperture: f8 - shutter: (bulb) - Shooting mode: raw
Metering mode: Center weighted average
then use photoshop to fix your white balance and any EV problems you have etc..
