tips on contrasting please...

im still not sure what is good contrast in my pic. what is it i should be watching for...

1 and 3 are taken with a pair of strobes one either side 1:2 ratio.
need to be getting it right in camera. help!!!

Out of the 3, I like the 2nd one best. The first and last ones just look to washed out. I would try making them a bit more contrasty using curves and levels. The lower left corner in photo 1 is also distracting. Also, keep your backgrounds free of wrinkles. I really like the lighting, just needs a little post processing love.
