Hey, the vote distribution is 1-1-1!
Looks I have to stick around here for a while to get mnore views
I like the density and look of the image but to me the seagul really looks PS in. To me it looks like it should be behind the line that runs through the image. Something just doesn't look right to me. Did you do some PS work??
The one thing that you are going to find out from this poll is that everyone's monitor is different. If you are really curious, you should get a Pantone Spyder and calibrate your monitor.
I voted normal. I think the density is ok, but the contrast is too low, but again, that's on my monitor.
The first thing I thought was said by Eric above, the second was that it was probably a digital camera and therefore the d-o-f weakness has made the gull look strange?
It's certainly a good image, but I'd like to see the feathers on the bird's wings to make it really special.
Thanks for your comment
Well, I did some PS work such as selective Unsharp Mask to make the seagull stand out a bit more, greyscale, levels but I did not put the seagul there
Yes, it is digital SLR. Regarding DOF, the zoom was at the long end which equals 216mm on film. The seagull was not close to me so the DOF effect is not that strong as it could if it was closer.
Well, histogram shows the contrast is OK if not to blow out the highlights. Maybe I should have done selective sontrast say, excluding the bird?
Well, I have tried another type of contrast I have just remembered. How do you like it now? Is this one better?
I actually preferred the original image, so my advice was probably crap there!! The leading edge highlight has gone digital - it's a zig-zag white line, unless my tired eyes are deceiving me?
That is a beautiful shot. I love the light just how it is. I wish the mast and pullies were a bit more in focus, but I really like it.
Well, well, well... I am just experimenting I am not quite sure how I would like to see this photo myself so I made another version to see if people like it better. And I sharpened the wings to make feathers a little more distinguishable as you have wished
