I took some shots yesterday.. they're old toys, some broken, mostly just beat up. I like them, but my husband said they're too weird, he thought they weren't any good.. Anyone else like them or am I just odd?

Somewhat disturbing. :) I've said before I don't much like selective coloring but I think #3 would look good with that center object colorized. I like that you chose B&W for this, full color would have been overwhelming. Funny I have the same box o toys in my basement. Just a bunch of toys the kids don’t play with anymore.

There is something disturbing about toys without heads huh? Why is that?

I planned on taking some more shots with the legs, arms, and headless bodies, but was cut short in my shooting, I may go back and do more, if only to satisfy my own odd self.

It wasn't the lack of a head that got me, but the mass of toys. My children went through a toy story 2 phase and I have that drilled into my brain. I actually do think toys come alive when we are not around. :)

I like the last one the best! however.. i don't like the greytones heres they seem a bit too dark and 'soft' for the headless subject.

My thoughts would be to go for more grain and contrast here - to bring a bit of harshness into the the subject.

If you use photoshop, use the channel mixer and turn down the blue a bit? - experiment (see vood's tutorial -
