Are transparencies only positives, or are negatives transparencies aswell?

they have told us to write about them in my assignment - Have no idea what to write, but I thought it would help if I could find out EXACTLY what a transparency is.

I am getting conflicting stories by googling it

[SIZE=-1]A transparency is a still, positive image created on a transparent base using photochemical means. The terms slide and reversal film are also used. It is the opposite of "negative" and "print" film in appearance.

ok thanks rob. I have absolutely no idea why they wanted us to look into that. We aren't doing anything to do with slides...
