Two old coots fighting and others... 56k warning

Here are a few shots from today including this coot altercation... I'm not usually a birder so perhaps someone could enlighten me if this was a fight or a courtship ritual? Whatever it was it was fun to watch! Also some other bird shots from today while testing a new lens. Enjoy.

They match Raymond's photos from his trip to Florida. They really do.
Sorry, don't know about the coots and whether that is friendly or not. All I know is that I stared at the photo for a long while trying to find out if it is really coot feet or a water plant between them, but I have come to the conclusion that it is the feet of the coot on the left, really, am I right? Do you know yourself?

That heron chick is coot, erm: cute (). Can't say I have ever seen a photo of a chick before. Good one.

And that pelikan came really, really close?

Thanks for the kind words... LaFoto it ia coot foot in the shot. I've not seen anything like it, it was kind of like a fist fight, but not having fists I guess they use their feet. :mrgreen:
