cash in hand, last minute shopping. what are some good underwater video cameras that can also be used on land? we leave for Palau on June 30th, and jsut now got the go ahead for a new video camera, so i though may as well make it underwater. our budget is around $500. i dont need national geographic quality, but something that is clear and decent on say a 30" TV, for example.

i would LOVE any input, i am researching lots now, but i always seem to find the "right one" after i already bought the "wrong one" lol.

thanks for any help!!! :hug::

Most people use housings for standard cameras. Here are a couple of places where you can get housings. Not in your price range though.

Top Dawg Video Housings

Ocean Images & Co., Inc. Underwater Video Camera Housings

This one is in your price range for a little camcorder. Good to 30 feet.
PURE Digital Flip Video Underwater Case Marine case for camcorder - Clear Acrylic

Not really what I would call a real underwater camcorder unless you are talking about swimming pool shallow snorkeling etc. (they say 5 feet) Not high res either, but in your price range.

Amazon.com: Sanyo Xacti VPC-E1 6MP Waterproof MPEG4 Camcorder with 5x Optical Zoom (Blue): Camera & Photo

If you have a video camera now your best bet would be to see if there is a housing for it and rent the housing when you need it. True underwater gear is precision engineered and expensive. Good luck.
