Last Tuesday me and a few friends decided to take a trip up the north shore, from Duluth, to Grand Marais, MN... it was the perfect timing i think for a trip, we left early after noon, and got back after dark.. the PERFECT time for taking photos. All photos are shot with a Canon 100-400L, which I rented for the Duluth Airshow.....

C&C is always welcome.. let me know what you think.
    Thanks

Nice shots. #3 I believe is a Sand Piper. Could be wrong, tho.

    Hi verticalization,

I like these shots. For the most part they are well executed with a few small exceptions.

#1 Good idea, and this could work really well... from another angle. With the rocks behind, it's a bit hard to focus on the subject, being the formation of stacked rocks. Try to get an angle where the formation has nothing but water behind it, if you can.

#2 My fav of the set. Just looks one or two stops on the shutter too bright - because your focus is good. Two stops faster shutter should bring out a bit more cloud detail.

#3 Almost money... just a tad out of focus though. Remember with birds, no shutter speed is fast enough. Crank up your ISO if you have to so you can totally freeze frame them. Birds are quite fidgety buggers.

#4 Really, really nice grab here. A bit of noise though in the darker areas. Knock your aperature down a couple stops and go a bit longer on the shutter to retain cloud detail + keep from noising out the darker foreground. Great shot though.

#7 I really like this one too. White balance looks a tad too cool though = blue tinge to it. IDK if you process RAW or not, but you can quickly fix this with the RAW file. If you're shooting JPEG, try the cloudy or shade WB setting for a little warmer feel.

Great shots though overall, verticalization. I look forward to seeing more from you.

Hope these comments help you -- keep shooting

Numbers 2 and 3 are really beautiful shots. The light and tones in #2 are sweet (not to mention the fog), and the shadow adds a nice extra to #3.

    All good shots.

My favorite is the lighthouse shot...and the moon shot comes in a quick second.

What type of lens did you use to capture the moon??

All the shots are taken with a Canon 100-400L. I had rented it to shoot the airshow, but luckily got some other photos with it too.
