upgrade from our Nikon D40

Hi, My wife and I would like to upgrade from our Nikon D40, I was looking at the Nikon D90 or the Canon 50D, been reading the reviews but would like input from people on here, thank you.

Have you gone to the store and played with the two cameras that you are considering? In my opinion there is a big jump in usability between the D90 and 50D.

i upgraded from the d40 to a d90 and love it. it is much more camera then the d40.
