Hello-

I currently have a nikon with a flash gun. I am looking into purchasing some more lighting equipment. I am thinking about purchasing a umbrella flash and a lightspere for my flashgun.

What would you suggest? Am I on the right track?

Thanks!

It really depends on what you want to do and what your style is. It can be nice to have something like studio lights...but that may be too cumbersome for shooting weddings.

What do you mean by "umbrella flash"? Do you mean an umbrella & stand that can be used with your current flash? Or do you want an actual studio light that plugs into AC power?

What equipment do you have now, besides a Nikon with a flash gun? If you plan on shooting weddings, you will probably need some high quality lenses with large maximum apertures. You will need back-up equipment in case any of your primary gear fails.

Weddings are once-in-a-lifetime events and a wedding photographer must have adequate equipment to get the job done.
