So, I bought a Pentax 35mm camera a while back from a friend of mine, and he included 2 teleconverters with it, and I'm wondering...What are they used for?

    Can anyone help me out?

They increase the focal length of a lens at the cost of some loss of light. A 2x TC doubles the focal length of a lens but requires that the exposure be increased by two stops. A 1.4x TC increases the focal length by 140% at the cost of 1 stop of exposure. Some of them cause very bad degradation of the image as well.
