what happened to my star pic?

long exposure... and i got a bunch of colored dots.... i believe it is internal camera related... maybe something to do with low battery and processing on the camera? thats my guess... since it never happened again.. wish this one was dot-free

Hot pixels. Some pixels are always "on" regardless of how much light they receive. Under normal circumstances, this doesn't really matter because they're much harder to see (and exposures are much shorter), but when you do long-exposure photography of very dark objects (like the night sky), they are much more prevalent.

One way to remove them is by using the Dust & Scratches filter in photoshop.

Were we being invaded??? (Just kiddin'). I plan on trying to shoot (photograph) the stars one of these days. I've seen others on TPF do this & I'm fascinated by it. Thanks for sharing!
