I've always thought about getting the mini.

It's great. With 16 GB of RAM it's fast, it's really small, and it's relatively cheap. There's no optical drive but who cares. No regrets at all. And that monitor I got on Craigslist for $150 and it's every bit as good as the monitor on my 27" iMac at work. I actually like it better because it's a matte finish opposed to the high gloss iMac screen.

EDIT: And don't sell your Nikon stuff!
