I found my father's old camera equipment along with a lens I had never heard of. From the markings, it it a Soligor 70-222mm 3.5f. I had never heard of Soligor, so I went to my trusty friend, google. From what I can tell it's a German(?) company from the 70s.

Any idea of it's origins and quality? It seems to be very solidly built and is still in good condition after ~30 years.

Soligor is a top quality product from the film days. Your google info is right on.

Soligor and Vivtar were the largest companies making generic lenses for a wide variety of cameras. They were the equivalent of Sigma, Tamron etc. today. The zoom lenses of that era weren't very good. I include all brands in that description. If you have a camera that fits the mount, fire away and see what kinds of results you get.
