Hey i need some advice . Currently im looking to buy me a camera mostly for traveling and video . Im looking at 2 choices canon 70d 18-135mm and sony a77 with 16-50 2.8lens . My main concern is quality . Don't really like canon 70d because of its plastic body but its got great af system for video . On the other end sony a77 got magnesium body but i have no idea how quick is their af video mode .If you had experience with any of those cameras ,please give your opinion!

Hi ik47 - if you're interested in video, you should know that, as with all DSLRs, the $1549 70D's viewfinder goes blank in video mode, forcing you to shoot with the LCD. As far as the $1398 A77 goes, it has a moire problem that is worse than the Canons. Please see the "blue stripes" on the shingled roofs in this side-by-side comparison between the A77 and the equally moire-prone Canon 5D Mark II (please watch at 1080p):

You may want to consider the $978 Panasonic GH3 with the $499 Panasonic 14-140mm video optimized lens. Metal body, a viewfinder that works for video, a fast video AF system, a headphone jack for monitoring your audio and less moire than either of the cameras on your list.

Please see the post below for examples of what this camera can do (sadly, The Photo Forum only allows one video example per post).

Hope this is helpful,

Bill

Here is an example of a travel video shot with the Panasonic GH3 (please note the lack of moire on the rooftops starting at 00:30 seconds):

Again, hope this is helpful!
