Whats the technical name of the camera part that connects to a flash that turns the flash into a slave and fires it when it senses a burst of light?

My digital camera doesnt have a hotshoe flash or flash pc port so I want to tape it to the flash so I can do a light tent. :0)

Probably got several names as different flash manufacturers made their own, specific to their kit. I used to know them as slave cells.
You could always try using tungsten lights instead to get around the problem. Those 500W halogen security lights you can buy in hardware stores for about £10 work really well. You can use them like red-heads.

Yeah i use 500w halogens with my light tent, works wonders.

Also... when you do this setup...

Make sure it doesn't fire a pre-flash. Either as red eye or as ETTL mode
