What's YOUR favorite scary movie?

It's not really scary but the movie "Salo" seriously ****ed me up. I still can't be comfortable around small nails and cupcakes.

House on haunted hill, the scary shaky doc gets me nervous everytime, oh and Shaun of the dead scarily funny!!

The Exorcist has always been my fave.

Honorable mentions....

Strangeland
Saw
Hellraiser....cause the characters are cool.
Texas Chainsaw Massacre
House of Wax...cause Paris got offed.

The exorcism of Emily Rose is my favourite atm. It was alot better than I though it would be. :) It's like a mixture of horror and drama, which makes it very interesting. I also love The Others, a great movie with a killer ending.

And the classics The Exorcist, The Shining, Silence of the lambs and those movies are also very good.

Dang you guys ... the most terrifying one has to be SOUND OF MUSIC .... just kidding ...

In reality the best scary movies are the ones that make you think this COULD happen off screen. Here's my list in no particular order (apart from on my shelf)

Last House on the Left. http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0068833/
Ghost Ship (Just for the open sequance). http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0288477/
Freaky Fairy Tales (USA title Deadtime stories). http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0092850/
Prince of Darkness - http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0093777/

I almost wet my pants watching Saw. Haven't had the guts to watch the second one yet....

Watch Saw 2!!! Then go see Saw 3!!! You'll love it. I haven't seen Saw 3 yet but I'm sure I'll love it too! I love the first two movies, so hopefully the third is the charm!

If this is the criteria, then wouldn't the scariest movie be Jaws. Killed swimming in the Ocean and Lakes for alot of people.:D

Doom and Event Horizon are my fave Sci-fi scary movies because they always make me jump when something happens.

I've been meaning to hire out The Hills have Eyes, I recently borrowed 28 Days Later off a mate and I could only watch it once.

Well my first scary movie was Scream/Candy Man in one night...I was 10or 12years old...can't really remember. I thought Candy Man was scarier that scream, although they will probably seem amatuer by today standards...

I will admit since that night I've never been fond of scary movies, but my friends in an effort to break my fear take me to every scary movie...but they now know my limits after taking me to Saw and then having to pay for extra cleaning coz I threw up in the movies I was so scared.

I know Constantine wasn't a scary movie, but I was tricked into seeing it, and it...surprised me and there was blood...so I cried, and lucky for my boyfriend at the time I had sharp fingernails and he still has the scars in his palm.

The new omen was crap...but I did laugh when the chick gets hit by the car

THe grudge 2 is scary, with the occassional funny bit..

The scariest movie though would be a japanese film called Hypnosis....OH MY GOSH....THose japanese know how to make one freaky film...I guess the originals of the grudge and the ring series are the sorts of scary movies that Hollywood aspires to recreate, I just wish they could do it with some originality.
