Where to buy for tripod?

We have a good tripod but have lost the plate that screws into the bottom of cameras/video cameras and slides into the tripod to lock it in place.

Can you purchase this separately somewhere? We were told no but there has to be somewhere where this can be purchased.

BTW, I am in Canada.
