Hi all,

I am looking for a good macro for maybe a couple of hundred dollars? Or less if possible? Or am I dreaming?

If you want AF and metering. look for a used(or new if Holiday sales come through) Micro Nikkor 40/2.8g.Though you'll get the usual comments about short working distance here, it's an affordable entry-level macro lens. Great bokeh and an alternative to the 35/1.8g as a normal lens. Seriously underrated.

Nikon 40mm 2.8G, used to own this lens, very good lens for little money.

used AF Micro-NIKKOR 60mm f/2.8D. exceptional for everything. i don't believe your body will drive the autofocus which is not an issue for micro use.

Extension tubes will get you close for not much money (about $125 for a basic set).

Check out the Nikkor 40mm f/2.8 micro, it's a fantastic macro lens for DX cameras and really affordable.
