    Hi everyone

I have a sony a 500 and looking to get a minolta 50mm f1.7 AF lens, I found several on ebay but there seems to be several variations. I understand there are some that won't mount unless an adapter is present, I don't want to get that one.

Does anyone know how to tell the difference?

    For example, I found this

    Minolta Maxxum AF Lens 50mm 1:1.7 AF50 - eBay (item 160398554562 end time Feb-01-10 18:16:12 PST)

which I think is not mountable without an adapter.

    Then there's this:

MINOLTA MAXXUM AF 50mm 1.7 for SONY ALPHA MINOLTA - eBay (item 190367447182 end time Jan-30-10 18:02:41 PST)

Which obviously says iis for Sony - is there a difference between the two items, and if so how do you know?

The second link feels a little sketchy to me, he says he tried it on a 5D, I didn't know Canons had the same mount type as minolta/sony...
