I took this a good number of years ago. I had a roll of black and white floating in my bag, so I loaded it up into my Canon EOS 1000fn.

black and white looks good underexposed to me. i actually like shadows. a very dark image with a few bright key areas is much more powerful to me than a bright image. but of course that's just me, with bw (and color sometimes too) I often try to shoot for the shadows (which usually means underexposure), not the highlights, unless i'm trying to get it technically correct.
