Why Does LR do that Grrrr.#€/?

Can some give an answer as to why lightoom cc decided to lose a bunch of photos from different catalogues, I just spent the last half hour dragging the thing kicking and screaming across my folder structure relocating files. I didn't move any files or anything that causes this.

Renaming folders can cause headaches...

Your image files are not in Lightroom.
Your image files are part of your computer's memory structure.
If you use your computer's file management instead of Lightroom's Library module to move files Lightroom no longer knows where those files are.

I specifically didn't do that for that reason .
