Why it is impossible to work eight hours a day, five days a week

There are 365 days in a year. In a leap year 366. Let us be generous and begin with 366.

Days in the year 366 days
Eight hours of sleep each day equals a total of 122 days
366-122 = 244 days

Eight hours of rest/leisure time a day equals a total of 122 days
244-122 = 122 days

You don't work Saturday and Sunday,
so subtract 104 days
122-104 = 18 days

You have an hour for lunch each working day which equals 10 days
18-10 = 8 days

Of these eight working days, you must surely have at least one week's holiday a year.

Which leaves you with a single day to work on.

Christmas day.

And nobody works on Christmas day.

I almost work 40 a week and it is cake. 8 hours for fun is long. I get out at five and am out doing things by 6 until I get bored at like 10 then am wasting time inside until like 12. I also only get .5 hours for lunch and no guaranteed vacation but a young man gotta eat

Uni - Destroying useless logic since time immemorial

That's alright, I was going to point it out but Uni got there first. There are a couple of other math issues in there, like subtracting 2/7 of the days in the year for Sat/Sun, even though you already subtracted 2/3 of the time in those days in the previous steps ... ;)
