So it's not really new, but it'll be new to me.... Just won an ebay auction for a Minolta 50mm f1.7 lens... can't wait to get it.... I'm assuming with the larger aperture, I'll be able to produce better shots in lower light without using a flash as much. Should help with my subjects not getting blurred due to moving on a longer exposure, right? Any other tips with a lens like this would be appreciated.

Yep, larger aperture will help in lower light conditions and also give you a very small depth of field when wide open. Congrats, enjoy!
